Elegant, sophisticated and brimming with old fashioned glamour, this unusual venue is ideal for luxurious private dining, drinks receptions, talks & meetings, awards ceremonies, musical concerts and performances. Combined with the nearby Examination Schools, it makes an impressive venue for opening conference plenaries, dinners and drinks receptions. Located in the city centre, the venue’s main space hosts 750 with a further meeting room for 80. It also boasts a rarity in the city – an indoor space at the top of the venue where you can enjoy drinks and panoramic views of the city’s skyline.
Our interesting and unusual venue is located in Oxford, in the heart of the city centre close to public transport and accommodation
We are committed to reducing our environmental impact by following, and encouraging, sustainable best practice.
If sustainability is high on your agenda when choosing a venue, you can be assured that we have lots of great initiatives in place.
As part of University of Oxford, OUEV is also required to work to the University’s Environmental Sustainability policy and commitments. We are doing our bit to work towards achieving their ambitious environmental targets.
The main entrance to the courtyard, and the main entrance to the building are both stepped. There is level access to the courtyard from Broad Street through a narrow doorway. There is also level access from the main Bodleian library courtyard. There is level access into the building through a side door. During events the level entrance is staffed; at other times it is locked and visitors should request assistance from staff to use it. Once inside, there is level access into the main auditorium at ground floor level only. There is no lift access to the upper levels. Due to the age of the building, stairs are old and worn in place with poor contrast. There are handrails on the left side only (ascending). There is a wheelchair accessible toilet on the ground floor. There is a fixed induction loop in the main auditorium.
It only takes a couple of minutes to send us your brief online and we will get to work.
Easy to work with and cost-effective. In 2014 The Venue Booker was asked to identify a suitable, new venue for Chambers’ prestigious Medical Law Lecture. Jenny not only met the brief by finding the right venue but she also secured it on favourable terms.

The Venue Booker is a fantastic service, not only finding the best venue for my event but the constant support throughout the build-up and event itself. Professionalism throughout with great communication. Nothing was too much hassle which made the process effortless! Highly recommend and will be back in the future!

"I recommend using the venue booker! Jenny was absolutely amazing; from sourcing a number of venues to getting me and my event booked in successfully. She was very patient and friendly even when I asked her 1001 questions and changed the details of my event, she was happy to help. She was very fast at replying and on job with chasing up venues. Very good and professional service. Thank you!!! Even through the pandemic, jenny made my event possible. I would use the venue booker again. "
