Set in a colourful, homely urban warehouse. A creative, open plan venue with a garden outside. A well equipped resource centre for making things happen, includes a dance studio and industrial kitchen, cafe space, and larger open space for conferences, dinners, presentations, exhibitions and more.
We are located on Kirkstall Road in Leeds – a short distance from the centre of the city – directly opposite ITV television studios in the Aire Place Mills complex, along with Seagulls Paint & Aire Place Studios.
Sprung oak dance studio, open plenary space, cafe space, kitchen, workshop, garden. All muti-purpose, muti-use and flexible spaces, adaptable to your needs.
Venue use upwards from £20/hr, depending on charity/unfunded rates, time of day or if you’re a commercial booker.
We’re a meat-free venue.
All our team are Carbon Literacy Certified.
Developed the Yarden to support and encourage biodiversity as well as be pretty, inc a green roof.
Updated all lights to lower impact LED.
Reuse, recycle and reduce as much as possible in all we do.
We encourage people who can to walk, cycle, run or take the bus to Open Source Arts. We have secure bike storage, a bike repair station and two toilets for changing (one is accessible). Kirkstall Road has bus lanes on both sides which can be used by cyclists making it safer and quicker!
You can also get here via public transport – the best buses from the centre of town are the 33, 34, 60 or A1 Flyer – ask the driver for the stop outside ITV Yorkshire.
There are two gender neutral toilets on the ground floor, one is accessible. We have baby changing facilities in the accessible toilet. You are welcome to breastfeed your baby here.
Open Source Arts is accessed via a slightly uneven floor outside. The main door is about a metre in width and 5 metres in height. The venue is split over two floors, with access to the upstairs (housing the cafe and dance studio spaces) via a staircase of 14 stairs with hand banisters on both sides, which unfortunately is not currently wheelchair accessible.
We have very limited parking on site – which is reserved for those who must drive for access.
If you require a free place for a personal assistant or have any other accessibility questions, please get in touch with us in good time before you intend to arrive and we will do our best to help.
It only takes a couple of minutes to send us your brief online and we will get to work.
I'd be pleased to recommend Jenny, The Venue Booker. I knew our request was going to be a tall order but she rose to the challenge, negotiated some cracking rates and retained her patience and professionalism despite some spectacular dithering at our end!

"I recommend using the venue booker! Jenny was absolutely amazing; from sourcing a number of venues to getting me and my event booked in successfully. She was very patient and friendly even when I asked her 1001 questions and changed the details of my event, she was happy to help. She was very fast at replying and on job with chasing up venues. Very good and professional service. Thank you!!! Even through the pandemic, jenny made my event possible. I would use the venue booker again. "

The Venue Booker is a fantastic service, not only finding the best venue for my event but the constant support throughout the build-up and event itself. Professionalism throughout with great communication. Nothing was too much hassle which made the process effortless! Highly recommend and will be back in the future!

Easy to work with and cost-effective. In 2014 The Venue Booker was asked to identify a suitable, new venue for Chambers’ prestigious Medical Law Lecture. Jenny not only met the brief by finding the right venue but she also secured it on favourable terms.
