Revitalized in 1925 by Dorothy and Leonard Elmhirst, it became a hub for progressive education, the arts, and social reform. Today, it serves as a cultural centre offering arts programs, environmental education through Schumacher College, and scenic gardens, blending history with innovation.

Set amidst rolling countryside and woodlands, the estate sits on the banks of the River Dart, offering a tranquil rural setting with easy access to the natural beauty of the surrounding area.
