Lucky Voice – London & Brighton
Karaoke is a legitimate sport. It requires skill, determination, perseverance and finally, alcohol. But it also requires a karaoke bar, at lucky voice the deal is simple: you pay per person for private rooms, filled with dress up boxes, disco balls and controllable lighting, into which you can take all manner of drinks prepared by the on-site cocktail bar.
Candlelight Club | Secret Location London
Two days before attending, you’ll receive instructions to track down the secret venue, be it a nondescript warehouse or an abandoned ballroom restored to its former grandeur for one night. And on said night, you’ll don your vintage glad rags, tip your hat to the doorman, and find yourself ushered into a glimmering, brawling, hooch-laden hall of debauchery.
Remarkably, the venue is entirely candlelit, with candles tucked away in nooks and crannies, suspended in chandeliers and illuminating the intimate cabaret tables dotted about the room. On the stage, there’s a live band playing ragtime, Dixieland and swing music, and on the dancefloor, Charleston dancers cutting rugs like there’s no tomorrow – with frequent appearances from fortune tellers and burlesque artists, and DJs spinning retro swing until the wee hours.
And when you’re not flapping on the dancefloor (apparently a good thing), there’s a well-stocked bar to prop up, serving up old-fashioned cocktails (not limited to Old Fashioneds) and sustenance in the form of bar snacks and sharing platters. And if you’re really pushing the boat out, there’s the option to reserve your group a table with welcome bottles of Champagne, or to book in for a three-course meal consisting of classic old-school dishes like truffled artichoke soup, and loin of Hampshire deer with beetroot & celeriac.
The open plan, bare brick walls of this vast, 400-capacity listed Victorian warehouse in Farringdon puts its house pianists and accompanying musicians at centre stage as they play energetic renditions of whatever pop classics the paying customers want until the early hours of the morning.
The list of cocktails is lively too – the classics all come with an interesting (and frequently delicious) twist to liven up the show: the Old Fashioned with mint-infused sugar, the Porn Star Martini using vanilla vodka, and Bloody Mary’s made with tomatoes from the Isle of Wight, no less – and there’s a daily happy hour from 5-7pm.
The food menu is also pretty pared down, with bar snacks (nachos, mac & cheese bites, chicken wings and the like) that allow you to tackle your hunger whilst not getting too distracted from the head bobbing, hand clapping, and feet tapping that the band compels you to do. But if you need a little more sustenance before hitting the floor, you can book your group a table, tuck into a two or three course dinner – with rib-eye steak, sweet potato tostadas, and Thai green curry on the menu – and round the evening off with infinite glasses of prosecco (also available at brunch, if you’re not particularly attached to Saturday afternoons).
Start thinking of those obscure cult pop songs you loved as a teenager.

This 4 star venue is situated in a great location, only 5 minutes on foot from the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and The City. This December join us on an enchanting journey through the shimmering mountains of Aspen;Colorado’s bustling alpine party village.
“As you enter the venue, a forest of lightly snowed fir trees line the entrance, lit in crisp whites and ice blues. Beams of light dance around catching intriguing forest imps ands titled birds of flight as they welcome you into the magical landscape.
As you begin to make your way through to the main bar area where friends and family wait, the tempo of the evening begins to change pace as the night starts to show its real character.
