Leicester’s visitor economy is set for a boost with three national conferences to be held in the city during April and May.
Over 1,000 delegates from across the UK and Europe will attend the three conferences – Chartered Institute for Archaeology, Cycle City Active City and the Tourism Management Institute Hot Topic.
Leicester Shire Promotions has worked with city partners including Curve, Maiyango, Leicester City Council and University of Leicester to secure the conferences and bring them to the city.
Ongoing support will include setting up accommodation microsites, securing discounted travel for delegates with East Midlands Trains, organising social activities and speaker opportunities.
The conferences are: • Chartered Institute for Archaeology: 20-22 April. • Cycle City Active City: 18-20 May. • Tourism Management Institute Hot Topic conference: 24 May.
Martin Peters, chief executive of Leicester Shire Promotions, said: “Leicester is gaining a rapidly growing reputation as the new destination for hosting national conferences and events. Our event bidding team has worked closely with city partners and venues to attract national and international conferences, and the pipeline for interested conference organisers stretches over the next 2-3 years already.”
