The Barge The Waterfront Brighton Marina Brighton BN2 5UU
Set over two large floors, ONCA’s new floating venue The Barge is perfect for leading a workshop, talk or hosting a team away day. The versatile upper deck is wheelchair accessible, with large windows that look out onto the sea and the small fishing boats at the Marina. It is a flexible and inviting space, with access to a sink and kitchen facilities, and two wheelchair-accessible toilets. The lower deck is split into two spaces: the larger is ideal for installations, screenings, performances and can also be used as a rehearsal space. The smaller is a studio or meeting space.
Located in the heart of the Brighton Marina, The Barge is easily accessible whether you choose to travel by car, coach, bus, train & even plane with Gatwick being our closest London airport. Free parking is available and there is a choice of surrounding restaurants, bars, and more.
The Barge is available to rent for a full day, half a day or for shorter periods of time. The dynamic Upper Deck offers a space for a range of events with multiple seating space, a bar/kitchenette, lunch area and two wheelchair accessible toilets. Lower Deck is a versatile area that can be used for anything from teamwork, rehearsal space to a film screening or an evening book launch. Amenities include: a projector and screen, a digital speaker system, flipchart, pens and markers.
The Barge is a venue with an environmentally friendly ethos. We are branch of ONCA, a Brighton-based arts charity which supports the wellbeing of people and places by increasing awareness of, and engagement with, environmental and social challenges. We host workshops for people all ages increasing environmental and local biosphere awareness, have partnerships with Brighton & Lewes Downs UNESCO World Biosphere Region, and take part in the annual Remembrance Day for Lost Species. The Barge encourages a zero single use plastic policy. We also hold the SSE Green Business Energy Certificate.
Brighton Marina and The Barge’s Upper Deck are wheelchair accessible. Please note that at low tide the ramp from the Marina walkway down to the dock might be steep for an unassisted wheelchair user. Lower Deck is only accessible by stairs. Events can be BSL interpreted upon request – please email us for this service.
It only takes a couple of minutes to send us your brief online and we will get to work.
The Venue Booker provided us with a fantastic selection of venues to view for the two events we enquired about – each of these met our brief, several offered something really special and most of them came with discounted rates that we would not have been able to achieve on our own. The service is free of charge and Jenny is friendly and helpful. We will definitely use them again.
Rachel Bailey, Clement
Easy to work with and cost-effective. In 2014 The Venue Booker was asked to identify a suitable, new venue for Chambers’ prestigious Medical Law Lecture. Jenny not only met the brief by finding the right venue but she also secured it on favourable terms.
Richard Rodger, Hailsham Chambers
Jenny and The Venue Booker have provided exemplary service to us over the years.
