venuedirectory.com, a data centre of venue information for the UK MICE industry, has announced the launch of Green Light Friday on 4 December to “celebrate the lifting of limits on events”.

Michael Begley (pictured), managing director of venuedirectory.com, said: “We need to make sure that all corporate event planners know the recent good news that business meetings and events of up to 1,000 guests are now permitted in England’s regional Tiers 1 and 2 from 2 December and that they can start to plan their activities with confidence. That’s why we’re calling on venues and agents join us on Green Light Friday on 4 December and share the positive news with them.

“Green Light Friday will make a terrific impact if the whole industry gets behind this campaign and shares the message that now is the time to start planning with confidence for next year. We’re inviting every industry association, publication, venue, agency and event professional to contribute and ‘blitz’ the message through every form of social medium using #GreenLightFriday.

“If everyone posts this message and shares content across their social media channels, we’ll seize the attention of all our potential event bookers and, like the news of the vaccine, give our industry a ‘shot in the arm’.

“To start the campaign and make it easy to support, we’ve drafted social media posts and emails and are sending them with the logo to all 20,000 venues and agencies in our database, encouraging them to share them with their contacts on Green Light Friday.
